Lists like this …
Lists like this only prove one thing. People do not know what an RPG is any more, a sure sign the genre, that’s been around for 25 years, is in it’s last days, being taken over by Action-Adventures that are being called Action-RPG’s. Games like Borderlands and STALKER.
Europe, with Two Worlds II, Witcher 2 and Gothic IV may keep the genre going a little longer, but because of the biased gaming media none of these games will get 90%’s however good they are, so may not sell well.

To be perfectly …
To be perfectly honest. I think that Witcher is a bit overrated game. I have played it but the fights were quite repetative and while the story was quite GOOD due to the feeling of repetitiveness I’ve never finished the game.
Oblivion:The Shivering isles expansion was very appealing to me especially because of Sheogorath who was, in my opinion, hillarious.
Haven’t played the other games tho’ I’ve read that Two Worlds had impressive spells animation but was overall unfinished and buggy as Hell.

And was Mythos released back then? I though it wasn’t.
I never liked Oblivion, I consider it a weak RPG.
The Witcher did deserve number 1 spot though.

Regarding Two Worlds, that’s IGN jumping on the bandwagon, and a media that treats games like movies and ignores what patches do; so you patch a game perfect and you still get the same 1.0 review score!

nonono, dumbo, you live in your own imaginary world. The genre hasn’t evolved, it just changed for worse and got boring, giving only improved graphics to gamers, without new ambitious ideas. Nowadays there are no games which could match those of the 90′ like Fallout 1 &2, Arcanum, Torment, Betrayal at Krondor or few Ultimas.
